Jojo got her hair done most likely with big curlers, looks like she might have extensions in. Also i think she dosent really have bangs they just made it look like that by curling her hair back.

Salon Professionals????

Ok so I think I pretty much decided what I want to do with my career. I am going to go to Paul mitchell school. BUT the only thing that ever kept me back and that is now lingering in my head is will I really make alot of money doing this?? I dont want to settle for less than 90,000 a year but am very driven and want to make over 100,000 a year. Can I really do hair and make that much? My dad says yes cuz he knows this normal lady who works at a salon and spa and she does only nails and makes over a 100,000. But is there any hair professionals out there that make alot? and not by doing celebrity hair but just working in a really nice area in a high end salon and spa. So any of you out there do hair and make alot? please help i wanna know if i should go through with this. I dont want to do 2 years of schooling to find out I wont make as much as I want to doing this and that I could have gone to business school during that time. I just want to do hair so bad but i wanna be able to travle

I went to the Ohio Academy (Paul Mitchel school) and in the end I found out I hated doing hair. But that is beside the point. haha. You can make a lot of money, and especially going to Paul Mitchel You will get a chance to travel. Get in with the school and the instructors and even admin. when they come to the school (they will!) and you will always have open doors. If it is really what you want to do than go for it. You get out what you put in. You wont start with that much money, but you can sure work up to that much.

Recently, a friend of mine's mom sold her salon for 2.5 million dollars. And she lives in a little city in Ontario, Canada.

But you need to be, well, a professional.

very possible. I own my own salon and love it. The only advise I would give you is continue your education by going to hair shows, color and cutting classes that supply houses give, books, dvd's on cutting new styles.

It's amazing how much the industry can change in a matter of months. Look how often styles change. It's up to you to keep up with it. If you can do that, then your golden. You have to be true to this career. It's not something you can sit around and pick up later when your bored. If your hard working and willing to not sit and wait for things to happen to you then the money you can make is insurmountable. Good luck.

But here's the catch...

Is business school going to make you happy? Are you going to love your job everyday?

You have tons of choices of salons to work at, from Great Clips to very high end salons. At places like Great Clips, you wont make as much per hour as you would at a high end salon, but you will cut more heads of hair, generating more tips. However, working at a high end salon, there will be fewer tips , but bigger.

I went to cosmotology school, graduated and then decided that I wanted to be an accountant. My license has since expired and I regret it.

You can always go back to school later and get a new degree. If you really want to be a hair desinger, follow your dreams.

You probably wont make a six-figure salary doing it, but you'll love what you do and that will change your life.

You can make that much but you need to be talented and enjoy the work and working with the public. It will take time and will be easier to earn those amounts in populated fashion oriented areas. If you are sure you LOVE doing hair than this will be easier for you. Once you get to be very good there are some opportunities to travel and do hair. Work on a cruise ship or do platform work even as an assistant... The trick is to be patient! Find a good salon with a strong training program and tough it out. I would caution you on the need to spend BIG bucks on Paul Mitchell training. Most cosmetology schools just teach you what is needed to pass the state test. I went to the county Vo-Tech for a fraction of the cost of a private school and got great offers for work in good top end salons with paid training. The added advantage of Vocational schools is that they also don't charge you extra for everything and there are little if any penulties if you choose to quit. The money you save on under grad schooling could be used to take training after you are licensed. GOOD LUCK

i really liked the ashlee simpson haircut with all the layers and how choppy it looked, but i wouldnt get it colored that color. you have to be careful when you are going blonde that you dont go to light, because it might wash you out. if you do wanna go blonde, then i would recommend going to a hair stylist, and i wouldnt do it yourself, becuase there is a really really good chance that your hair would end up like a gross orange, because that happens to me alot. the hair color out of a box is really bad on your hair, and it is harsh. the box color takes all of your natural hair color out and once you go blonde you are pretty much stuck, and if you wanna go darker it will just fade out. surprisingly the salon color isnt that harsh on your hair as the box color is. the stylist can mix the right color and will make sure that it comes out the right color. if i were you i would go like to a dirty blonde and just get full highlights. and then eventually over time you will get blonder, but not to blonde that it washes you out. that is what has happened to me. i hope that you have good luck, and dont listen to what people say, going blonde is fine.

The cheapest thing to do (I have naturally wavy hair) is to run about a little smaller than a quarter amount of hand lotion (for longer hair) through your hair starting about midway to bottom, then back up to the scalp, and comb through, then follow up with a flexible hair spray. I spray the hair spray on my brush, and then brush it through my hair. And, if you blow dry your hair, then use a thermal activated shampoo and hair spray. I usually just wait until my hair is almost but not quite dry, and then curl it, and the heat from curling it dries it the rest of the way, and I don't have to blow dry it.

I'm always in favor of not-short haircuts. I think most guys look better with longish hair than short--and lots of girls and women feel the same. (Others don't, so do what you want and don't worry about it. If *the* girl prefers short, you can always cut it if she's worth it.)

I'm not a fan of "product" in the hair. I hate-hate-hate running my hands through a guy's hair and feeling stuff in or on it--yuck.

Keep it super clean. Trim it just a little every 2 months (to shape it a bit, even out the growth, and minimize damage), and you should be good to go.

I realize you may not have the money to do what I do every month, but this has worked the best for me. I go to a hair stylist once a month for a cut and color. I hated my brown hair and he colored (he won't use the word dyed) it a lighter shade that was "blondish". It looked much more realistic than my natural color! He uses one of the best brands out there--Schwarkopf (?sp) and after it's done it looks like there are natural highlights without him adding them. I get it done once a month because my hair grows really fast and I'm vain enough that I don't want any roots to show so that people will know this isn't my natural color. Sorry, I don't keep up with celebrities very much, but I have noticed recently that more and more are going to shorter lengths. Go to a Borders or Barnes %26amp; Noble and look at the hair styling magazines. Many of them will have pages of celebs with their new hair colors and styles. I don't think I helped you much, but I've been doing this for over 12 years and I've had so many positive reactions--from males as well as females.

Personally I have gone whole head only one time. I dyed my hair burgundy from my natural light brown. It wasn't a drastic change while in doors, but in the sunlight it was awesome. Plus as my hair grew out, it wasn't a tacky difference seeing my roots.

That's the bad thing about whole head dyes that are drastic, like from brown to blonde, is that as your hair grows, the natural colored roots become very noticeable. And having to go in and redye your hair every so often to color your roots to match the hair can get old/annoying.

I did the blonde strips of hair in a way that was fun but could be hidden. I picked a lil grouping of hair strands on each side so that they would be seen while my hair was down. But when my hair was up in a pony tail, they could be covered up or my hair could be brushed in a way to let them be seen.

Highlighting is easier, not as tacky to grow out. Plus with highlighting you can do several colors aka highlighting and lowlighting. Lowlighting as in dye strands a darker shade.

Personally I like the gradual color lightening that the sun does during the summer. Though I must confess that I cheat. I have this hair gel that has lemon juice mixed in. The lemon juice accelerates the lightening process. And it "works" while I am out and about.

Yesterday, I was in my car when I noticed two very beautiful girls. They were above medium in height, were very white (pale but not albino) and had straight pale blonde hair. Despite the fact that their hair was long, they made some of their hair in a beautiful lock around the upper part of the back of their head. They were very fair and their eyes were either light green or pale blue (or perhaps grey).

I asked a friend of mine where in the former USSR would these girls come from and he told me that many girls looking like that come from the western part of the Ukraine. As for my guess, they probably come from Russia; especially St. Petersburg or Kazan (where they form a substantial minority there).

Or may be they come from one of the Baltic states. I'm really confuesed, but I have to admit that these two girls were the most beautiful girls I've ever seen in my entire life; even more beautiful than the sexiest female celebrities.

Speaking only of "Russians" (former Soviet), a tall blonde with fair skin, green/blue/grey eyes, and this hairstyle would be typical of Western Russia, Eastern Ukraine, or Baltic heritage (speaking mainly of "Russians").

I have seen this "look" of girl in Lithuania, Latvia, and Eastern Ukraine (mostly).

I struggled with these headbands at first too! What I have found that works is just tying the two ribbons in a double knot (no bow -- just overlap and pull tight and repeat). Let the ends hang either down your back (behind your hair, its ok if the ends peek out) or you can let them dangle down the side of your neck. It should look great! Hope this helps you!

For thin hair, I think like you should add in some tracks to make it look more fuller and have more volume.

You can use the basic rollers but roll your vertically almost like shirley temple.

and then you sit under the dryer for a while and then done pull them out, and tease your hair and add in some conditioner and some hair spray [not spritz].

I struggled with these headbands at first too! What I have found that works is just tying the two ribbons in a double knot (no bow -- just overlap and pull tight and repeat). Let the ends hang either down your back (behind your hair, its ok if the ends peek out) or you can let them dangle down the side of your neck. It should look great! Hope this helps you!

I'm Asian American with medium skin with golden undertones, and dark brown eyes. Celebrities with similar coloring to mine would be JLo, and Adriana Lima except for her eye color. I look more Hispanic than Asian; its very hard to find hair color for me. My hair right now is dark brown (natural hair color). I want a lighter hair color but really not quite sure of what exactly I want. As for my wardrobe issues. I have lost a lot of weight like over seventy pounds. Many of my friends tells me my body shape now is more along the lines of Jessica Alba. But since I lost so much weight its hard for me to find clothes that works. I want to wear something decent. I know this is a vain question.

But after seeing an old movie, this brought to mind that when I was a teenager I definitely prefered hair with a lot of body, while nowadays I think smooth hair is more natural, less overwhelming and probably gives one a more youthful look...

This also makes me realize that while I used to mistreat my hair to make it have more body, nowadays I'm sure that noone with natural straight hair, can look as some people we used to see years ago, and they could just obtain that look using products designed for that purpose...

the only thing I have heard is to wash it as much as possible, every day because the cleaner your scalp is, the easier it is for the hair to grow as opposed to if your scalp was greasy it would clog the hair growth. even if you have to wait for it to grow, alot of people can curl short hair, maybe ask a hair dresser to show you a good way

I too have very fair skin and have naturally dark hair. I have had many a man admire the combination... and in fact it is one of the reasons my husband fell for me in the first place!!

Another thought - go to a wig store. Try on a few wigs in your desired color. Get a look in the mirror and see if that is something you want. Then tell them you have to think about it, and walk out. You'll have lost some time, but no hair dye reversal!!

I have thick hair so I can do it fairly easy, although with fine hair I would think it would be more difficult. I first I usually do it a day or two after washing since hair with hold better then, I tease the front of hair hair and put into a ponytail making the sides tight and leaving the top more loose. I then with my finger or hair pick pull out more of a bump and then put in my handband and spray to set. If you do have thinner hair try teasing and using a hairspray at same time before making bump so you have more volume! Good luck!

You can use a curling iron on it to smooth your curl and make it softer, and make your hair more uniform. You can also get a relaxer, I know you don't want your hair really straight so make sure you find a stylist who can do this for you and do it correctly. They would put a relaxer on your hair, scrunching your curl as they go, process for 3-5 min MAXIMUM. Also make sure they would be doing a thio relaxer not a sodium relaxer. Lastly there should be 2 stylists applying your relaxer at the same time so the application is very fast. If only one person applies it then the area where they start will be way too straight by the time they finish the application. If you choose to go this route, please make sure it is someone who really knows what they are doing as it would be really easy to make your hair too straight and then it will not curl for you at all.
