In which year of the 20th Century did men wear their hair the longest.?

It seems to me that most men didn't start wearing their hair real long in the 1960's. It seemed only celebrities wore it long then. I'm thinking average Joe's didn't start growing their hair really long until about 1971 or 1972. What do you think?
