African American woman and want to know should I wear my hair curly or straight?

In order to give you an idea of how my hair looks straight I went to Beverly Johnson's website as we have similar features. I have been wearing my hair curly but the products sometimes break-out my face. When I straighten it I feel lighter and free but my husband seems to think that it just makes me look ordinary. I look at celebrities today and you rarely see any of them with curly hair with the exception of Rachel True (better grade of hair than mine) and Diana Ross's daughter.

Is it out of style? Lastly I'm relatively overweight and when I wear the curly hair I feel bigger. I know that this is trivial but I need outside opinions from you guys. Please give your opinion. Look at these two links to see the different types of hair. Keep in mind that although my hair is curley like on the picture it is a tighter more natural curl and the same length. Thank you all. http://www.wigs.com/prod

I wear my hair both ways

I think that maybe when you do straighten your hair you should get feathers Either curl the crown or just chunk straighten it Also try a nice bump it'll keep your hair from looking to ordinary. What products do you use to keep your hair curly? I would say stay away from Jam that has a tendency to break out your skin so does Smooth n Shine

Try Lusters moisturizer and use an aerosol holding spray to hold it and if you want more luster/shine use a oil sheen to give it some shine.

P.S. Neither is out of style As a matter of fact natural is a big thing for models. But do try natural the fact that you feel bigger with natural may just be a comfort zone. :)

Just my opinion, but I like the curly hair best. Your husband is right, the straight hair does look ordinary. Could you check with a hair stylist and ask if she knows of any products that will not break your face out?

When you say curly I assume you mean that you have a natural do. Try styles like twist outs and straw sets. Try this site and look at its member's pics for inspiration http://www.nappturality.com/

and no being natural is not 'out'. I wish I would have stuck it out and not relaxed mine.

That particular straight look isnt saying much. sorry. If you have natural curls, rock them! own them! If you are breakin g out try a different product. I have sensitive skin and use Paul Mitchell products. It IS expensive, but its worth it and my hair AND skin looks and feels SO much better. Also try Aveda products. If you are going to go straight, make sure you have a great cut, the one in that picture is really boring. Get a bob or something a little more trendy. And finally, trust your husband's opinion, after all - he loves you!

Why not appreciate both? I have naturally curly hair, similar to Ananda Lewis's or Chili of TLC, but with a bit more volume... I personally prefer to wear it straight, but I love having the option to wear it either way! I love curly up do's with ringlets dangling down...

Although, I'm not a big fan of curly hair down that creates too much distraction around the face, and if you're already somewhat thicker... I'm sure the curlier the hair may cause the illusion of bigger.

But at the same time... if your hair is too flat or straight, it may make your face look bigger... not a good look.

Maybe opt for a wavy, controlled look? These looks are always complimenting.

natural.

the only people that actually care about if someone is being natural or fake is people who are shallow and egotistical.

feel good about yourself and how god made ou.

obviously, if you're married, he likes you enough to spend the rest of his life with you.

So just make yourself feel good in your own skin.

plus straightening your hair too much could fry your hair to the extreme.
